Gaziantep, previously and still informally called Antep is a city in the western part of Turkey's Southeastern Anatolia Region. The city has two urban districts under its administration, Şahinbey and Şehitkamil. It is the sixth-most populous city in Turkey and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world.

Gaziantep may not be very known for tourists but it's for sure one of those off the beaten track places and there is so much to visit, see and especially EAT ! There are only 8 Cities in the world which made it to UNESCO’s list as a Creative Gastonomy City– AND GAZIANTEP IS ONE OF THEM! This city is also called The Food Capital Of The World. Here's a list of the best foods and drinks I tried in Gaziantep...

Baklava with pistachio

I was never a fan of Baklava but this one changed everything! Never tried something so delicious in my life.Variants of Ba[klava](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/your-guide-for-the-best-food-with-the-best-view-in-istanbul-9a90) can be found all over Turkey. Gaziantep Baklava is known for its exclusive use of pistachio nuts and often are cooked with no honey unlike its counterparts.

Kebap

Kebap was my all time favorite food of Gaziantep. It was never too early or too late to have a good kebap!

This snack food can also be found all over Turkey. Thinner and rounder than a pide, this dough base is topped with meat and vegetables and sometimes cheese too.

Gözleme

Gözleme is a traditional savory Turkish flatbread and pastry dish, made of hand-rolled leaves of yufka dough that are lightly brushed with butter and eggs, filled with various toppings, sealed, and cooked over a griddle. The dough is usually unleavened, and made only with flour, salt and water.

Limonata

Limonata, the simpliest of beverages is very famous in Gaziantep. Personally, I liked the mint limonata and I want to thank this man for offering me a free limonata...So kind!

Ayran

Ayran is made by mixing yogurt, water and salt and is one of the mainstays of Turkish tables during summers.

Kahve

That's how tu[rkish coffee](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/how-to-predict-your-future-by-simply-drinking-coffee-in-turkey-j9jj) needs to be served...The best coffee I have ever tried by far.

Cay

And...CAY !!! The favorite drink of Turkey and for sure Gaziantep too. I became a cay addict too when I was there, I started drinking around 10 glasses cay per day because it was so good even on the hottest summer's day.
