Èze - the most beautiful village in the French Riviera

Bus number 82 from the Boyer stop in Nice travels not only through space, but also through time. It takes you to 15 km away hilltop village on the Cote d’Azur, Èze, but also centuries away, straight back to the Medieval time. This tiny village is kind of a museum itself - with its uneven cobblestone streets, centuries old houses, narrow passages under low archways, and hot-pink bougainvillea. And, that's not all: Èze offers some of the best views of the Mediterranean. All that makes me conclude - Èze must be the most beautiful village in the French Riviera.

There is not really a recommended itinerary around Èze. It is very small (it only has 2500 inhabitants), but still, one could spend hours walking around it. One of its highlight is the Exotic Garden *(Le Jardin exotique d'Eze).* This garden is packed with countless species of plants (especially cacti), but also with beautiful sculptures that keep popping up as you walk down the winding paths. The view of the Mediterranean and the hills below is spectacular, giving an obvious answer to Why Côte d'Azur is called Côte d'Azur, in case you wondered. There are also a few waterfalls, many spots where you can meditate or just read a book. The entrance fee is 5€, but it's the best way to spend 5€ on the Côte D'Azur.

Besides these gorgeous views, Èze also has some gorgeous smells to offer. Don't miss visiting Parfumerie Fragonard - L'Usine laboratoire where you can learn the secrets of perfume-making and shop cheaply for the best perfumes. Even I am not a perfume fanatic, I found a tour in Fragonard interesting and learned a lot. The staff is knowledgeable, the tour is free, available in many languages, and you get to see the design stages of their creams, shower gels and solid perfumes. A soap-making workshop is also available. In half an hour guided tour over 90 years of traditional know-how and craftsmanship in the traditional creation of perfumes are shown.

Curiously, it was here that U2 filmed one of the versions of Beautiful Day spot in which you can have a look into Bono's house in Èze. The tiny village also inspired the famous philosopher, Nietzsche, who wrote his classic *Thus Spoke Zarathustra* here. Nietzsche found his inspiration during his daily hikes from Èze, downhill to the sea and Èze-sur-Mer. This trail is open, so you can walk down too, retracing his footsteps. The most beautiful village in the French Riviera promises one beautiful day if you visit it.
