Republika Východu

Republika Východu literally means 'The Republic of the East', and that is how the eastern metro-pole Košice is called. The whole concept of the place is quite humorous. For example, the menu is written in Eastern-Slovak dialect (but English menu is available too), full of inside jokes that only people from Eastern Slovakia get. You can find here evergreens like “krupica”, a manna-kroup porridge topped with butter, sugar and cocoa, a profiterole “veternik”, or beloved open sandwiches, also very typical for Slovakia. I recommend the variation with a Slovak sheep cheese “bryndza”. And as a bonus, you can order your brunch any time of the day. Cool, right?

Gesto Cafe & Brunch

The idea of this place is to serve brunches all day long. They have many egg variations, served with fresh home-made bread. If you have a sweet tooth, no problem at all. Delicious cheesecakes and crepes are waiting for you. People love this place not just because of its tasty menu and great coffee, but also for its stylish interiors. Even though it is not located directly in the city center, it is always packed.
