While traveling through Romania, you will very likely end up in Sibiu or Brașov, two best conserved medieval cities. Or maybe you will be in Transylvania. And then you might ask yourself: where to go now? Stop asking yourself as I have an idea for you: a* one-day trip from Transylvania to south Muntenia*, a trip I actually planned for myself this summer. This will be a trip for all tastes: discovering history, enjoying nature and a well-deserved relaxation at the end of the day.

Around 100 km of itinerary will include: visiting the famous Transfăgărășan Road, the monastery of Curtea de Argeș and ending at Ursa Mica Glamping Resort. I recommend you to travel by car as the public transportation in this area needs an upgrade. The best time to take this journey is summer.

From Transfăgărășan to Curtea de Argeș

You start at the Transfăgărășan Road, one of the most spectacular roads in the world, a journey through a typical mountain landscape. The road was build in the 70's and is currently used for car testing. Top gear hosts have traveled to Romania for this road and declared it the best road in the world.

On the way, you can make a pause at the Vidraru Dam, also a must-see for this trip. Your next stop on this journey is one of the most beautiful monasteries - Curtea de Argeș. As a child, I was so fascinated by the architecture I could stare for hours at a picture of it. After some years, when I finally visited the real monastery, I was so impressed. I also recall why I was so fascinated by this building. There were many legends and poems written about it, all mentioning the character Manole. Manole, the architect of the monastery, was unable to finish the walls until he placed his living wife into one wall, say the legends. And this is because everything that was built during the day, broke down during the night.

If you can extend your journey, one should definitely check the variety of sports practiced in this area: jet ski, water ski, ATV riding, Deltaplan, motocross or extreme winter sports.

Who said nature and luxury are two separate things?

After this amazing day, you surely will deserve some relaxation. In that case, opt for the Ursa Mica Glamping Resort, a luxury camping resort. Some friends of mine were there last summer and they were more than impressed by the conditions and the mixture between nature and luxury. Don’t forget that Romanian people are extremely friendly. So, while enjoying your stay, don’t forget about socializing. You never know when you can make a new friend, or more of them, even if you spent just one day taking this *journey from Transylvania to Muntenia*!
