As mentioned previously, a well-established and active in the e-tourism partners of ours is now the “G[reek Adventure” ](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/)association based in Greece and they’re ready to help us introduce and present alternative excursions and extreme activities in Greece!
After having explored the Olympus mountain, the hidden beauties of Valia Calda, and the land of the tower castles & ancient sites, Mani, I guess it’s time to explore the majestic Nafplio and the extreme activities that can be done around its natural and breathtaking areas.
As Federico has previously mentioned, only a couple of hours away from Athens there is a lovely small town which will stay in your memory for quite a while after visiting it. Nafplio is ideal if you want to take a break from the intriguing yet chaotic Athens and enjoy a relaxing day. Many call it the “most romantic” town in Greece, while others emphasise its rich history and fascinating location.
It is approximately 94 km far from Athens and it can be reached either by car or by suburban buses departing regularly from Kifissos bus station in Athens.
Different fortresses rich in history and folklore stories from the ancient times, to medieval and more recent times, are awaiting to be discovered.
The first fascinating site that will probably steal your heart, is the famous fort of Bourtzi, which was built in 1473, on a tiny inlet right in front of the port. The importance of this castle throughout the years, makes it an ideal location where the first historical tales and folklore find their origins.
After enjoying the magnificent site, it is recommended you paddled towards the old town of Nafplio, where the UNESCO World Heritage fortress of Palamidi dominates the view. Continue through the Akronauplia fortress, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the dominant cliffs covered in succulent vegetation.
At the same time, do not miss the chance to jump into the water and get refreshed while enjoying Nafplio’s crystal clear waters.
Isn't it a unique way to explore such a city? It grabbed my attention, hopefully yours too!
