How to shop smart in Apulia

Italians are known worldwide for their good taste in fashion since many of the most popular fashion brands come from the country of “La Dolce Vita”. For many tourists it is preferable to bring back home one or two Italian clothing items, rather than a magnet or a coffee mug from their trip to the southern European Republic.

Where to shop?

Usually every small city has an historical center that offers a lot of privately owned shops, equipped with Italian clothing brands hard to find anywhere else in Europe. Judging from my personal experience, I'd tell you that the Ap[ulian](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/alberobello-the-trulliland-20dm) boutiques are definitely worth visiting. In addition, the variety offered in these stores leaves no wish unfulfilled. You can find anything that comes to mind; from antique tablecloths to designers' purses. Unlike in most of the bigger stores and shopping centers, the "pennichella” (the Italian version of siesta) is strictly followed and respected inside the cities. Alongside shops, and even restaurants are closed from 13:00 to 17:00.

The Puglia Outlet Village

Do you want to spend an entire day bargain hunting? If yes, all you have to do is drive only 30 minutes away from Bari, to the small port town Molfetta, where the Puglia Outlet Village is located. It is the biggest outlet village of the southern Italian region with a shopping area of over 40000 m² and over 140 Stores. Cafes and restaurants offering lo[cal specialties,](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/apulian-cuisine-ihzk) guarantee an enjoyable break, during which you can relax with a tasty meal after a successful shopping stroll. While globally popular brands can be found, the majority of the stores sell Italian brands, which you may buy in half price! During the sales' time, the outlet prices are even more reduced. If you prefer going on a shopping spree without a crowd, choose either going on a Monday or on a peaceful Tuesday – Thursday mornings are also quite calm while the biggest rush in the Outlet Center is definitely on Sundays.

Italian fashion

The outlet's motto is quality over quantity. There are timeless & quality pieces, in which Italians are happy to invest more money, knowing they'll have them for a couple of years. As simple as it may sound, one of the most appreciated items are definitely the sneakers; due to Apulia's narrow and cobblestone streets and its semi-reliable public transportation, comfortable yet fashionable footwear is a must for the Apulians.

It's sales' time!

In It[aly](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/the-hidden-beauty-of-rome-xw1a) the sale time is expected like an annual event. Unlike in other countries, the summer and winter sales start for all stores (depending on the region) on the exact same day. Usually this price reductions start from a 30% off and reach up to 80%. During these days a successful shopping is guaranteed, whether it's for you or your loved ones!

No matter in which city you are, most coffee bars are open throughout the day; have an intense Espresso and a freshly baked pastry and your shopping spree will definitely become a pleasant activity! (even for the ones not loving it).
