Leuven, the university city

As a typical Belgian University student I live near my university in Le[uven](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/must-sees-in-leuven-9a9g) from Sunday night till Friday afternoon and return to Ostend in the weekend. Leuven, where my university is situated, is known for being a "student city". This also means that all over Leuven there are buildings that belong to the university. Of course I will not be able to mention all the buildings of the university, so I will mention the ones I like the most.

The library

The building I see everyday and really like is the Library building, since the main building of my course is right behind it. Once a year, when the elections for the students groups are coming up, the plain in front of it transforms into what I would like to call "a paradise for students". Free food, drinks and activities for KU Leuven students that are sponsored by the students.

Erasmushuis

Another place I really like is the Erasmushuis and the park with statues surrounding it. Especially in the summer there are a lot of things to do in this area. Cheap food stands, calligraphy lessons performed outdoors and so on. Because it has a small park around it you can also just enjoy the weather and sit outside while talking, eating lunch,...

MTC

The MTC (Maria Theresa College) is also a nice change from the usual buildings you can see everywhere. The bikes standing everywhere is a nice remainder of the many students having classes inside this building every day. This is always a nice shortcut you can take from the Tiensestraat to the Ladeuzeplein, as every student in Leuven knows very well.

Philosophy building

One of my final favorite buildings is the main building for studying philosophy. I have never had the chance to enter this building, but by passing by regularly I always look at it. It always look so enticing to enter it. Maybe one day I will just go and take a look inside.

Following the University buildings in Leuven, you can discover the city by the views of the many students living in it. If you like this article then you will probably also like the article about the Christmas market in Leuven. And if you are interested in another university in Belgium then maybe the vrije university of Brussels might be something for you.
