Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb

Let’s confess something – once in a lifetime we all were brokenhearted. Maybe we were the ones to break up. Who knows? But sometimes we are the side that is abandoned. And now let’s remember all those broken relationships – whether ours or someone else’s. Now, imagine one museum where you can put all those broken relationships and let others watch them. Well, come to Zagreb and you’ll see one in the Mu[seum of Broken Relationships](https://www.livetheworld.com/activities/croatia/museum-of-broken-relationships).

Key rings, books, coffins, toys, an axe or an iron…a shoe, sailor’s cap or Galileo’s thermometer and many, many other things became part of a permanent exhibition in the Museum of Broken Relationships. Behind these just simple everyday things, there are real stories; some of them are sad, some are weird but all of them bear the weight of one’s sadness, sorrow or even un-happiness.

As they stated on the web page, the Museum of Broken Relationships is a global crowd-sourced project, and this project has two hubs – Zagreb and LA. Very interesting is the fact that there are numerous travelling exhibitions that have the aim to grow museum’s collection and its variety and originality. So, sometimes people are hurt, and also sometimes people overreact. Reading this story made me think what else one is capable to do when her/his heart is broken. Here, in the Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, you can see this very axe hanging on the wall, together with full story (in Croatian and English).

Museum is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Last entry: 8:30 p.m. (October 1st – May 31st) and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Last entry: 10:00 p.m. (June 1st – September 30th) and it’s located in Zagreb’s Upper town.
