Recently on a whim, I headed to Chail, a hill station located in Himachal Pradesh, In[dia](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/india-a-modest-mini-continent-gdbc). A few years go, I had tasted some natural foods from the region and I was totally hooked to them. This time, when I went to Chail for the very first time, I had completely forgotten about its rich nature reserve of fruits and flowers (which my friends had told me about). Luckily, all these natural products are converted into lip-smacking and healthy foods and tasty drinks. The hill station with breathtaking greenery is located 337 km from India's capital New Delhi and according to Google Maps would take you 7 hours and 40 minutes to reach. But from personal experience, the journey can be quite long. It took me 11 hours to reach by car, so your travelling distance would depend on how much traffic gods favour your luck. It's also advisable to not undertake one time non-stop journey to Chail and rather halt somewhere in between for a breather. Ch[andigarh](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/trip-to-the-rock-garden-an-environmental-marvel-of-chandigarh-hckj), Ambala and Shimla are good areas to stop by and indulge in some food and retail therapy. My halting point was Chandigarh for one night due to my long love affair with the city. Also, Chail is well-connected via train and flight routes, choose accordingly that suits your budget and travel itinerary.
These natural foods are super healthy and are prepared by the locals. The Indian government encourages their production for sustainable development of the region and people around. With the local contribution of the farming community and the government support, the natural food industry of Chail has grown immensely and continues to grow today.
Upon reaching Chail, I have to confess I was totally amazed. Before this trip, I had never seen this much greenery anywhere. The green cover in Chail is extremely thick and known to cure many health-related ailments too. At Chail, my lungs were thanking me for the trip. The high oxygen level and sweetness in the air were beyond my imagination. In short, I had completely fallen in love with this place. In fact, the kind of serenity I experienced here was something new for me. So, if you are a big-time nature lover, looking for peace as well as adventure and natural foods then Chail is a must-visit place for you. One can easily meditate here, even in the hotel rooms, admiring the beauty of the surrounding valley, or head out for a nature trail sipping home-grown natural juices. The colour of plants and trees is actually green, which is quite a sight in India, where pollution levels are quite high.
As Chail is extremely blessed in terms of natural diversity, there is ample production of fruits like apples, strawberries, cherries, plums, peaches, pomegranates, apricots, litchis, guavas etc. These fruits are converted into a wide assortment of natural foods such as juices, jams, pickles, squashes etc. All of these products are very popular locally as well as outside and taste super yummy. The best part about these products is that they are chemical / preservative-free. In fact, there is such a wide variety of these natural products that are bound to leave you confused and also greedy for more. These products are packaged very beautifully and can also be used as gifting options for your loved ones.
So, if you are looking for a different kind of vacation, with less crowd and noise, Chail is a perfect place for you. Fabulous views, breathtaking greenery, monkeys, langurs, pine cones and, most importantly, home-grown natural foods - all of which make Chail a memorable experience to be endured in India.
