Nerja is a peaceful yet very charming little village located in the southern Spanish coast, a 45-minute drive away from the famous city of Málaga. About a third of its population is composed of foreigners, mostly English people who have decided to move to this idyllic corner of Europe to enjoy a sunny life all year long. Many are the people who have decided to visit this marvelous place, and who even choose to stay till their last day. There is a reason as to why Nerja and its surroundings have managed to bewitch so many Europeans and Spaniards alike.

If you haven’t checked out Part I to this article, make sure you do so to discover the main attractions Nerja has to offer all visitors. In this Part II we will focus primarily on the beaches you could enjoy while you spend some time in Nerja!

Most Interesting Beaches to enjoy in Nerja

We would want to give you a few more details about the beaches in Nerja, in order for you to find the ones that would suit you best.

According to whether you want more or less privacy, or whether you’re looking for a more raw and authentic place, or for a place near restaurants and other facilities, such as showers, you will want to chose one beach or another. Let’s have a look at the main options I have selected for you amongst the many beaches you can find in Nerja.

Burriana Beach

The Playa Burriana is the most famous and most visited beach in Nerja, with an easy access even for disabled people and plenty of facilities, such as restaurants, hammocks, and even the possibility of renting water-bikes and boats (talk about a great one-day experience?). There’s also a big parking place in Nerja just outside, so you shouldn’t worry about whether you can find a place to park –which is often a big problem in the Costa del Sol.

Salón Beach

A more hidden and charming beach where you can still find fishermen living in small houses right next to the shore. You won’t find a single restaurant here, so make sure you bring your own sandwiches!

El Chucho Beach

The Playa El Chucho is at the bottom of the Perla Marina Hotel. One of the best beaches to enjoy with the whole family. It’s quiet and calm yet it has its own lifeguard service, hammocks and toilets.

El Playazo Beach

“El Playazo”, which literally means “the awesome beach”, is the longest beach in Nerja, which spreads out for almost 2 kms. It is the only beach in Nerja which allows setting-up barbecues in the sand, so make sure you come to this one if you want to do one, and don’t get mistaken or you will be fined!

El Playazo also has several public parking-lots all around, so that will not be a problem if you want to go there. If you're not yet convinced I've found a great video that will help you make up your mind, check it out!

Now all you have to do is make your choice and enjoy the crystalline, dream-blue waters of the Nerja coast!

You may also want to check the amazing cliffs that can be seen to the east, from Nerja, they are wonderful:
