Paris is a city that literally glows. Every night, its boulevards, bridges and monuments are beautifully illuminated. No wonder, Paris is worldwide known as the City of Lights. But did you know that the capital of France also carries the title of the City of Delicious Food? In Paris, it is all about tasty food and good wine. In this city, you can get food from all over the world, but also some very fine Parisian specialties, such as the “confit de canard” or the macarons. In this guide, I am taking you on a very special Paris food tour, from breakfast to dinner. Attention! You can get very hungry after reading this text.

Breakfast and lunch

The best way to start your day in Paris is to go to your local café and order an espresso and croissant. And don’t forget to dip your croissant into coffee, like a real Parisian. But, if the breakfast is not such a big deal, the things get a little bit different when it comes to lunch. Did you know that in France life stops between noon and 2 pm? And I am not exaggerating. The lunch is such an important moment in Paris, and in France in general. Having lunch during the rush hour can be such an interesting cultural experience, almost as important as visiting the Louvre. I recommend you to book a table at the Bouillon Chartier, one of the famous Parisian brasseries. Here, you can taste some traditional specialties such as the “confit de canard”, a duck cooked in its own fat until the meat gets deliciously nice and tender.

Tea time

Parisians are often taking their snack around 4 pm. This is a perfect moment to taste something nice and sweet like the macarons. This traditional meringue-based Parisian treat is very trendy, and you can find it in almost every bakery. But still, the best spot to have this beautifully-colored, perfectly-rounded and soft pastry is the Maison Ladurée. You can also try those made by Angelina. Situated next to the Jardin de Tuileries, Angelina is probably the sweetest place in Paris. This tearoom serves not only colourful macarons but also other delicious pastries. Also, this is the place where you can taste the best hot chocolate in the entire Paris! Perfectly thick and rich, this hot chocolate is composed of three kinds of cocoa - from Niger, Ghana and Ivory Coast, but its recipe is a well-kept secret.

Diner

The best way to finish your day in Paris, the city of delicious food, is to get a baguette, plate of cheeses and a bottle of good red wine. If the weather is good, you should definitely have a picnic next to the River Seine or even next to the Canal Saint Martin. The best bread you can find in Paris is probably at the "Du pain et des ideés", a rustic Parisian bakery, situated in the 10th arrondissement.
