Everyone comes to Pisa to see the Pisa leaning tower at the Piazza del Duomo, also called the Piazza dei Miracoli. The unique tower was erected in 1173 and completed in 1372. The accidental tilt during construction in the 1300s makes the tower become well-known worldwide. Apart from the tower, the piazza itself is beautiful and spacious and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the piazza, apart from the leaning tower, you should explore the magnificent Pisa Cathedral and the Pisa Baptistry.
After visiting the piazza, my friend and I found a very famous gelateria full of locals. It has one of the best pistachio gelatos I have tried in the whole of Italy. The gelateria is called La Bottega del Gelato, and it is near the river. Expect to see a long queue in front of it during weekends. Apart from the Piazza del Duomo, there are not many things to see in the city. However, make sure to stop by this gelateria on your way to the train station. You will not regret it if it is a sunny day.
Pisa is easy to get to by train from Florence and can be visited in half a day. It is recommended to go in the afternoon because it is less busy than in the morning when tourist groups tend to arrive. You can even combine Pisa and Lu[cca](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/lucca-and-its-tree-tower-8tqs) (a beautiful medieval town in Tuscany) in one day trip from Florence. The train tickets are cheap and can be bought at the train stations on the day of your travels.
