Playa de Muro, a dreamy beach in Mallorca

At the northeast corner of Mallorca, next to the touristic Alcudia Port, you can find the beach you have been dreaming about: Playa de Muro. It is the biggest sand beach on the island: six kilometres of pure, white sand, clear and shallow waters… all this beauty just across an impressive natural park. A beach for everyone

Playa de Muro is divided into four sections. The first two are the closest to Alcúdia Beach, so they are highly popular, surrounded by hotels, restaurants… and with all the amenities you could wish for on a beach. Parking nearby is easy, granting comfortable access, so these two sections are golden for families. Plus, the water is very shallow so that kids can play in all safety. Actually, you have to walk a lot if you want to lose your foot. Here you can find a wooden bridge, ideal for beautiful pictures. Walk it, and you can finally jump into deeper water at its end.

Section three, Es Comu, is the most beautiful and the most difficult to reach. It is surrounded by sand dunes and pine trees. I recommend you to walk among them to admire the landscape and then go straight to the beach for a bath. The beach has no restaurants or any other amenities to disturb the view, so it is worth the walk from the parking if you are looking for a calmer spot. 

The last section, Es Capellans, is close to Can Picafort and hence surrounded again by hotels, restaurants… anything you need.

What to do

At Playa de Muro, you can practice any water sport that comes to your mind: kite surfing, parasailing, or jet-skiing. However, if you decide to leave the beach for the day, there are many other choices for you. For instance, if you are a nature lover, you have to visit the beautiful natural park of S’Albufera, right next to the beach. This park has over 1,500 hectares and is divided into four itineraries, all very easy to do. Walk or cycle along them to admire the gorgeous landscape of the Albufera: a huge extension of flat sweet water, rushes, and tons of different birds flying around: falcons, eagles, black vultures… up to 250 different species!  

On the other hand, if you are more of a sightseeing enthusiast, there is a gem for you just around the corner: the historic town of Alcúdia. Walk its medieval streets and city wall, and taste the local products every Tuesday and Sunday at the market. And if you are into Roman cities, you have the beautiful Pollentia only a kilometre away. There you have two very curious things: the smallest amphitheatre in Spain and the tombs within the theatre tiers.
