Ponta de Mangue, the Brazilian Caribbean in Alagoas

It is well known that in the Northeast region of Brazil, you can find amazing beaches and cultural entertainment because of the geolocalization - close to the equator line - and because Brazil's colonization starts precisely in this region. But like everyone, I also have my preferred beach in the area, and this one is Ponta de Mangue Beach.

Located at the border division between the states of Pernambuco and Alagoas, Ponta de Mangue is what you can say "a piece of Caribbean." The beautiful color of the water, the blue-emerald contrast, a permanent temperature of around 30º, white sands, and coconut trees all complete this picturesque paradisiac landscape. It is a truly fantastic spot to enjoy some days away from the noisy reality of the big city.

The beach is not long: with no more than 3 kilometers, it is very close to Maragogi Beach. Ponta de Mangue is unique and peaceful. With the reefs being far away from the beach, there are no strong waves, which permits you to dive, swim, or just relax with a cold beer in your hand. By the way, I strongly advise you to dive next to the reefs, where you can see an immense variety of fish and sea animals. If you do not have experience with such a thing, look for professional help over there because swimming to the reef can be tricky when the water table is changing.

Where to stay

In Ponta de Mangue, there are many hotels - you can easily find information on the internet. But there is no place like Je[sus Camping](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/502700653090524). You might be thinking that you do not like camping, and yes, I understand, but in this case, I think you should give it a chance for two main reasons. Jesus Camping is the place of the highest spiritual tranquility you can find in Brazil - judging from my personal experience, at least. Second, the camping is located exactly in front of the beach, which means that you can go to sleep gazing at the sea and wake up with the beautiful sunshine at the beach. Ok, if you are still not convinced about camping, try the bangalôws (rooms with bed and private toilet) also located at the campsite: for these, it is better to schedule in advance because there are only three available.

What to do

I have already suggested some things you can do there, but there are plenty more. For example, when the water table is low, you can even walk until the reefs. It is a bit far (more or less one kilometer), so keep in mind that if the water table changes, you may have to swim to come back to the land.

Generally, this beach is empty or not crowded at all, so you can enjoy the place all by yourself. However, there are also things such as boat trips and sports equipment offered to rent, as kayak or waterboards. So, if you are a fan of these, then make sure you dedicate one day just for practicing those kinds of activities. Last, I would strongly advise you to walk to other beaches, like the one of Maragogi. The center of this beach is located around six kilometers from Ponta de Mangue - walking through the beach -it is an ideal beach walk. In any case, you cannot go back home without visiting Maragogi

How to get there

Well, that's the tricky part... there is no public transportation to Ponta de Mangue. Of course, there is a bus line from Recife (capital of Pernambuco) and also from Maceió (capital of Alagoas) that passes through this region. From Recife, the highway PE-060 in Pernambuco, changes to AL-101, after crossing the border, but does not take you right to this beach. That means that even if you take one of these lines, you have to walk around three kilometers to arrive at the waterfront. So, my advice here would definitely be to rent a car. That is the best and cheaper option - also, there are no tolls in between the two capitals.

Ponta de Mangue is a special place, so if you go there, be prepared to have the time of your life.** I hope you enjoy this article and that it motivates you to make this fantastic trip to Ponta de Mangue, the Brazilian Caribbean in Alagoas**. See you!!!
