As you might already know Prague is a very popular city and flooded with tourists all year round. Hence, it can be rather challenging to escape the typical tourist traps and find a more local city vibe. In this article I will be sharing with you some of the hidden, cosy and authentic wine bars in Prague.

Since we are already talking about wine, don’t forget that Czechia has some of the best wines, which should definitely be on your bucket list of things to try whilst in the country. Most of the production of Czech wines comes from the vineyards in south Moravia and also Bohemia. When it comes to production quantity, pinot noir is one of the most popular, as well as cabernet sauvignon, and blauer portugieser.

Strada del Vino

Strada del Vino is located in the newer town of Prague, close to the national theatre and river Vltava. If you need a break from sightseeing, or you are planning a night out, this wine bar is perfectly located. At this wine bar you can choose from a great selection of Italian wines from Tuscany or southern Italy. The wine is typically served by glass if you wish to taste more than one, or per bottle. Along with your wine tasting you may also wish to order some delicious snacks or traditional Italian burrata and other tasty food.

Veltlin Wine Bar

The Veltlin wine bar is really one of a kind place and loaded with rich history. It is located in the Karlin neighbourhood, far from all the tourist crowds. This wine bar feels very homey and cosy, this is because the owners know all of their wine makers and suppliers, thus are able to provide their customers with excellent wine quality. The wine bar is unique in the way that it sells wine from countries of the former Habsburg Empire, enabling you to taste a variety of wines from various central European countries. Get ready for an inspiring history lesson and a plate of delicious cheese and paté to go along with your wine.

U Zeleneho Mnicha (at the green monk)

"At the Green Monk", is a very traditional and authentic-looking winery, located in the Prague 6 area district, between the city centre and Prague airport. The winery is well known for its South Moravian wines, which also cost around 1-euro per glass. Its wooden interior and wine barrels make a perfect atmosphere for your wine tasting experience. This place should definitely be on your to-do list while in Prague, as you will have the chance to taste Czech wines accompanied by a selection of amazing cheeses, as well as Hungarian specialities, such as cold cuts and sausages.
