Reasons to visit Georgia – Silk Road, Golden Fleece, nature

As I promised you, I am going to tell you more interesting facts about Ge[orgia](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/georgia-touch-of-the-past-taste-of-the-future-6wg0). I am sure that you have already heard of Georgia's history, alphabet and wines. So, now let’s talk about the other reasons to visit Georgia such as Silk Road, Golden Fleece and amazing nature.

Silk Road

Georgia is one of the countries of the Silk Road. This road became famous and important from the 1st century. It was the shortest road that successfully connected Europe and Asia, and it was passing through Georgia. Thanks to the Silk Road, the cities Uplistsikhe, Mtskheta, T[bilisi](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/tbilisi-a-capital-of-legends-tel8) and T[elavi ](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/telavi-city-a-heart-of-the-kakheti-region-mgqn)were developed. Those cities were already well-settled from the 1st century. In addition, the Silk Road played an important role in the merger of East and West cultures, which is well-represented in Georgia. We have adopted both cultures. However, we still managed to maintain our own customs and traditions.

Golden Fleece

Georgia is a country of the Go[lden Fleece](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/georgia-the-land-of-the-golden-fleece-umsj). I am sure you have heard about the famous Greek myth about the Argonauts. Jason arrived in the west part of Georgia, in the old Kingdom of Colchis to take the Golden Fleece, which supposedly kept a secret of collecting gold from a river. Caucasus Mountains System

The northern border of Ge[orgia](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/georgia-and-its-regions-pimo) is surrounded by the beautiful Caucasus Mountains. One of the highest mountains in Georgia is Shkhara Mountain that is 5193-meter-high and located in the S[vaneti ](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/svaneti-the-most-beautiful-place-in-the-whole-caucasus-f40y)Region. Another great mountain is Kazbegi with the elevation of 5033 meters. Their beauty and greatness will make you feel so special that you will want to come back and see those breathtaking places again and again.

Ushguli

Ushguli is a small Village known as the highest populated place in Europe. It is located 2100 meters above the sea level at the bottom of Shkhara Mountain. The residents never leave this place, even in the coldest winters. Ushguli is a very beautiful village with its green fields and interesting Svanetian towers. Only there, you can taste the real Svanetian delicious dishes such as Kubdari, Chvishtari and many more.

Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park

This huge park holds around 1% of Georgian territory. It is one of the largest and the most beautiful parks in Georgia. Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park was established in 1995, and it plays a great role in the creation of the climate of Georgia. The diversity of the landscapes, interesting historical monuments and rich flora and fauna make Borjomi Park a must-see-place.
