Six amazing places to meet spring in Moldova

Spring is a special season in Mo[ldova ](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/get-closer-to-moldova-and-find-out-its-peculiarities-4cr0)because everyone here knows – when the spring comes, it brings joy and natural beauty. Early spring is really making Moldova a fairy world with mild green grass on the hills and light mist above the Dniester River. The landscapes of our country in spring are so amazing, that no one could pass by the places where one can meet this season perfectly. Today, I will tell you about six places in Moldova, where you should be a spectator this spring, and all the following ones. 

Varatic village

Varatic village is one of the most splendid and most amazing places on the banks of Prut River. The village is surrounded by small waterfalls and apple gardens. The name "Varatik", in Moldavian can be literally translated as “summer”. Nearby the village, there is a small hill named Zigleu. Some time ago, various archeological excavations were carried out there and, just imagine, the traces of one of the oldest settlements in the western part of Eastern Europe were found! So, you will have a possibility not only to meet spring but also to meet the history with your own eyes.

Reservoir of Taraclia

The reservoir of Taraclia is one of the largest artificial lakes in the south of Moldova. It was created in the late 1980s and, firstly named after Joseph Stalin. Only after Moldova became an independent country, the lake was renamed by the name of the nearest village - Taraclia. The total area of the reservoir is 15 square kilometers. The idea was ambitious. People wanted to raise the waters of Danube River to Nisporeni village and connect the Danube to Dnieper River, with a help of the network of canals. The lake is very beautiful, and sometimes you can see here the colonies of waterfowls. Last spring, for example, photographers captured pelicans on this reservoir. Perhaps they will return this one and the following springs as well, so you could see this beauty with your eyes!

Furcheni village

Furcheni is a village in the Orhei District. Make sure to visit this amazing village because this place is interesting not only for the general view but also for the picturesque gorge in the floodplain of the river Reut, that flows nearby. After the gorge of Furcheni, the river Reut smoothly flows into the Trebuzhensky canyon, and then into the famous historical and archaeological monument Ol[d Orhei](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/old-orhei-discover-moldova-s-ancient-roots-rho6). Vadul Rascov village

The village named Vadul Raskov, like most Moldavian villages, is distinctive and gorgeous. This is the place from which you must see the Dniester River. It attracts people because, on the one hand, the village is protected by a high cliff, and on the other, you will find the Dniester River with its gentle coast. In addition, from almost anywhere in Vadul Raskov, you can enjoy the view of the opposite shore with high cliffs. 

Trinka gorge

Trinka village is located 10 kilometers from the city of Edinet. This is an old Moldavian village, known for a quarry for the extraction of the best lime in Moldova. Right on the outskirts of the village, along with the channel of Draghishte River, there is the widest gorge in Moldova, named after the village nearby - Trinka. Its widest point reaches 250 m. The length of the gorge is about one kilometer, but the height is about 120-140 m. There is an amazing view of the village right from the top of the gorge, but it's not wrong to walk in the valley of it either. The river Draghishte flows loudly there, creating a true spring atmosphere for everyone who visits this gorge. Sometimes, you can even meet shepherds with their sheep, going for a walk or coming back home. 

The canyon under Sholdaneshty village

There are a lot of canyons and gorges in Moldova, where you can meet spring, however, the canyon under the Sholdaneshty village is one of the most picturesque ones. It is 16 kilometers long and 120 to 160 meters deep. It ends right at the Dniester River. The tributary of the Dniester, the river Chorna, flows along the bottom of this amazing canyon. Since ancient times, the local population mined the building material - booth and kotelets, in the rocky slopes of the canyon. They say that here our ancestors "cooked" lime, that is quite popular and spread in the rocks of Moldova.
