Spring In Rome (Part 1)

Nothing is more delightful and eye-pleasing than the Eternal City dressed in colorful and fragrant flowers. If you love the colors pink and purple, you have to visit Rome during March and April.

After fall, spring is my second most favorite season in Rome.** There are plenty of reasons why I love Rome during spring. But the ultimate reason is the diversity and beauty of the flowers in bloom. Plus, the divine fragrance of wisteria and orange blossoms*, my all-time favorite smells*.

March - April

I remember seeing the earliest sign of spring in Ro[me](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/the-hidden-beauty-of-rome-xw1a) at the beginning of March. On a beautiful Sunday, I took a walk in my neighborhood in Mo[nteverde](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/exploring-monteverde-vecchio-in-rome-rs7d). I was so stunned to see cherry blossoms in full bloom just a few meters from my apartment. The whole street Via del Vascello was full of the pink flowers - *it looked a bit like Japan*. About two weeks later, when cherry blossoms faded away, Judas flowers in Via Giacinto Carini started to bloom. The pink shade of the Judas flowers was more vivid than that of the delicate cherry blossoms, making the street strikingly lively. The two streets I mentioned are located in the area between Vi[lla Sciarra](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/the-hidden-beauty-of-rome-xw1a) and Vi[lla Doria Pamphili](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/the-hidden-beauty-of-rome-xw1a). Walking around this neighborhood during spring, you will easily find the beautiful blossoming trees. The Judas flowers usually last for about 2-3 weeks. But do not be sad once they go away because the beauty of the Eternal City during spring will continue to amaze you. Wisteria, the Queen of Spring in Rome, gloriously bloom around March and April. I call them the Queen of the Roman Spring because of their abundance and prestigious position (in the very center of Rome). By chance, I discovered a huge vine of wisteria flowers near Piazza Venezia, on the staircase Scalinata dell'Ara Coeli. At the top of the staircase is the Basilica Dell'Ara Coeli. I could never forget the striking image of the purple flowers, and in the background was the white marble building Altar of Our Fatherland. What was even more memorable was the wonderful fragrance of the flowers. What a lovely memory of spring!
