Apart from the sense of wisteria, another fragrance dominating the Eternal City is the divine sense of the orange blossoms - this is my all-time favorite smell. The sense is delicate and sweet, almost like the smell of jasmine. It is used to be made into neroli oil. The best place to find orange blossoms in Ro[me](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/the-hidden-beauty-of-rome-xw1a) is in the Orange Garden (Giardino degli Aranci) on th[e Aventine Hill](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/the-hidden-beauty-of-rome-xw1a). Locals tend to come here to relax on the benches. The Orange Garden offers a panoramic view of Rome including the Do[me of St. Peter's Basilica](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/the-unique-views-of-st-peter-s-dome-oygx). It is also a marvelous place to have a picnic lunch or watch the sunset.
A popular place to spend a spring day in Rome is the Spanish Steps. The attraction is usually decorated with pink azaleas as part of the celebration of the birthday of Rome. The beauty of nature accentuates the magnificent architecture of the stairway. *During springtime, the place is more lively than ever!*
My favorite place to relax in Rome during spring is the Roseto Comunale (the Rose Garden of Rome) near Circus Massimo. The garden features a great variety of colorful roses from all over Europe. Opening for a limited time each year, the Rose Garden is usually less crowded than places such as the Orange Garden and the Spanish Steps. What's more, The Rose Garden is totally free to enter. It is a truly delightful experience for flower lovers!
Bonus tips: Smell the roses. Find the pink roses of German origin as they are the most fragrant of them all. The second best sense belongs to the subtle pink roses of France origin. I used not to like the fragrance of roses because I had only smelled the red roses. As soon as I discovered those pink roses, I was completely in love with the sense of roses, not as much as with the orange blossoms though.
