Strunjan: A view from the sea to the mountains

The approximately 46 km long Slovenian coast and its surroundings hide many beautiful places, beaches and cities that are waiting to be discovered. One of the hidden gems of the Slovenian coast* is the Strunjan Nature Reserve and its main attraction - the Strunjan Cliff, which is a part of the breath-taking view including the Adriatic Sea**, the Gulf of Trieste and the city of Trieste, Izola, Koper and many other. One of the best ways to get to the Strunjan Nature Reserve is to leave your car next to the church called the Church of the Vision of St. Mary and continue by foot to the Strunjan Cross on top of the hill. There is a gorgeous viewpoint and offers a close view of the famous Strunjan cliff, the bright water of the Adriatic Sea and even the Italian city of Trieste.

If you wish a bit of refreshment in the hot summer days, you can enjoy a swim at the Strunjan Beach or just relax and have a drink or grab a bite in a restaurant or a café by the beach. It is located right by the sea and in the heart of nature, where you can relax and swim in the indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

So, after cooling down or even making a rafting trip in the Soča Valley, the seaside in Strunjan is a great choice for your next destination. And definitely not the only one. When visiting the Slovenian coast, you should also consider exploring other towns located by the sea, the most known are Piran, Portorož and Koper. Each of them has its own interesting history and plenty of beautiful sights and beaches to enjoy.
