When you are in Paris for your vacation you should use one of your days to see where the French kings spent their lives. Versailles is a really famous city of France. For Le chateaux de Versailles but also his luxurious gardens.

If you are in Paris it’s pretty easy to go to Versailles you just have to take the subway number 9 until the terminal Pont de Sèvres and then take the bus 171 until Chateau de Versailles.

Chateau de Versailles

In 1789, the French Revolution forced Louis XVI to leave Versailles for Paris. The Palace would never again be a royal residence and a new role was assigned to it in the 19th century, when it became the Museum of the History of France in 1837 by order of King Louis-Philippe, who came to the throne in 1830. The rooms of the Palace were then devoted to housing new collections of paintings and sculptures representing great figures and important events that had marked the History of France. These collections continued to be expanded until the early 20th century at which time, under the influence of its most eminent curator, Pierre de Nolhac, the Palace rediscovered its historical role when the whole central part was restored to the appearance it had as a royal residence during the Ancien Régime.

Go through all the castle inside you will see all the gorgeous rooms of the castle like La Galerie des Glaces and the library of the king. But do not only stay inside the castle, get out go see all the huge gardens of the king. It was the place were he hunted dears and boars, of course today the forest no longer remain.

The small gardens

First of all stay in the gardens close of the castle, you will fell as a king walking around in all those driveway of bush. After than you will start seeing the fountains of the king. They do not work most of the time but if you are here in summer there is shows with music were the fountains work, those shows mostly take place on the Saturday.

Le Grand parc

You can also go further in the garden and go around Le Grand Canal, it’s an artificial lake of 2km who was used to give Paris water in the back days. It was away for the king to show his power to the other royalty. If you have the time you can rent a bark on go all over the place.

The queen spots

All the rights of the garden was given to the last queen of France, Marie Antoinette. She was really bored and wanted to do something of this place, it was forest at the time. So she built big houses today called Le Hameau de la Reine. Her goal was to have small houses for her and her servants, so she wouldn't have to live with the pressure of her king (Louis XVI). Close to this place there is Le Grand Trianon an other castle built buy Louis XIV. This place was used to host his guest, for exemple Pierre 1 of Russia, and is still today used to host royal people, the last one was Queen Elisabeth II in 1972

When you are going back to the castle you will see the biggest Hotel restaurant of Versailles Le Trianon Palace. The chef Gordon Ramsey is today the owner of this place and many peoples come to eat or just see the place. Close to this Palace there is a really small place called Le Temple de L’amour. This small antique rotunda is, with the Belvedere, one of the two neoclassical factories of the English Garden imagined by Marie Antoinette that she could contemplate from the windows of the Petit Trianon castle. The temple, whose carved decorations are the work of Joseph Deschamps, consists of twelve Corinthian columns surmounted by a dome decorated with the attributes of Love. It houses in its center a replica, by Louis-Philippe Mouchy, of the sculpture "L'Amour" ,carving a bow in the club of Hercules, after which it is named. All this leads to a really nice place, where a lot of couples come and lay down in the summer. I would say that when the sun is coming back, couples and families like to come and spend time in this huge garden
