Tatyshev Island, the only island on the Yenisei River in Krasnoyarsk

Krasnoyarsk is a city in Siberia located on the Yenisei River. When you travel here, you will have a great chance to enjoy the taiga. The severe Siberian cold will try to frostbite you and gophers will attack you on Tatyshev Island which is an absolute must-see while going to Krasnoyarsk. The island's history is unique (we'll discover it together soon). Meet the Yenisei, one of the hugest rivers on Earth

The Yenisei River is not only the biggest river in Siberia; its length is 3487 km. The Yenisei River attracts travelers who like extreme kinds of activities. However, if you prefer calm and secure travel, the Yenisei can be a good place for you too. There are many slow water tours around Krasnoyarsk; you will swim by the river contemplating the Siberian taiga located on both sides of the Yenisei. Curiously, the air around the taiga is considered to have healing powers, so breathe in fully! The Yenisei River gives plenty of opportunities for fishing and hunting. The tourists are lured to the shores of the Yenisei, especially during spring. Since the river gets covered by a lot of ice every winter, it is a miracle (enchanting and somewhat terrifying) to watch the melting of the ice.  The first place to visit on the Yenisei, however, is Tatyshev Island.

Tatyshev is the biggest island on the Yenisei River. The island is situated within the city limits. One can get to the island by crossing the Octyabrsky Bridge (if you travel by car) or by Vinogradovsky Bridge (for pedestrians). The surface of the island is 7 km². When the civilization was absent on this piece of land, it was occupied by the nomadic tribe's pastures.  Nowadays, Krasnoyarsk locals adore spending time on the island. Things to do on Tatyshev Island in Krasnoyarsk

Tatyshev Island was hugely upgraded for the Universiade of 2019. Now it has spaces for volleyball, basketball, football, and skateboarding. You can rent bicycles and roller skates here, skis and ice skates – during winter. Tatyshev Island has the biggest ice skating rink in Krasnoyarsk. Don't be discouraged to visit Tatyshev Island during winter, you will see the city fur tree that gets decorated for the Ru[ssian New Year](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/celebrate-orthodox-new-year-in-irkutsk-z**e82)** festivities.

Almost all city festivals and grand events happen here. Also, the island is famous for its natural inhabitants – gophers. These cute little things greet you at the entrance of the island. It's their habitat, and they feel quite comfortable sharing it with humans.  If you are dreaming of visiting nature within the city limits, it is quite possible in Krasnoyarsk, just go to Tatyshev Island, the only island on the Yenisei River!
