While working as a journalist and making interviews almost every day, I found myself looking for different places, where I can properly focus on my work and the person I speak with. I figured, that the best choice would be a nice little restaurant, a fortiori place, where you can have a delicious and filling brunch with your partner. And of course, let’s not forget about coffee either! Having a good cup of coffee makes my day complete, not to mention the many different types of food. Whether you are looking for the perfect Eggs Benedict, a luscious sausage meal, scrumptious local pastries, a bowl of fruit-infused muesli, Budapest has a variety of breakfast selections to offer. The reasons why having brunch is a good choice:
These reasons made me want to show you the best breakfast places in Budapest. Let’s get it started!
Villa Bagatelle is a prime location for romantic breakfasts in Budapest, housed in a beautifully refurnished villa in the Buda Hills. You can have a full brunch, or if you feel a little more extravagant in the morning, there’s a champagne breakfast menu, which includes a brioche with smoked salmon, goat cheese, raspberries and a glass of champagne. The building also houses a bakery, therefore guests can always be sure, that the baguettes and croissants are totally fresh.
One year ago, six friends decided to open a breakfast and coffee place in district III., Óbuda, near to Kolosy Square. Flat White follows the trend of new-wave coffee places, but they would like to stay healthy as well. There’s a large selection of breakfast dishes, including egg prepared in various ways, pancakes, hamburgers or muesli. As I implied before, I’m a coffee kind of person, and have tasted coffees from all over the world, but I can say it was one of the best I have ever had, what I was served here.
One of Budapest’s most iconic restaurants, Déryné is a popular breakfast spot too. With a stylish atmosphere reminiscent of Budapest's 20th century coffee houses, this iconic eatery in the city's Buda side features just a few, but beloved breakfast options. Déryné offers you the best Eggs Benedict in Budapest, but you can order sandwiches, English breakfast and homemade sausages as well. They are dedicated to serving simple and to honest brasserie food, for what people next door will drop in on a daily basis.
All in all, having a satisfying brunch, especially in Budapest is always a good idea. If you visit the capital city of Hungary, you should have enough time to go to these 3 places. I guarantee, you won't be disappointed.
