The Blue Bay is a small sea bay that was formed from an inlet of the Tulkili Canyon, in the Mangystau region* of West Kazakhstan. **"Tulkili" in the Kazakh language means "fox place," though there are no more foxes living in this area nowadays. Thirty years ago, the Tulkili was a gathering place for fishermen who excitingly told stories about the Blue Bay, its white sand and emerald waters*. However, now this hidden paradise of the Mangystau region** is more than accessible for those who really want to see with their own eyes the beauty and surroundings of the Blue Bay**.

How to get to the Blue Bay?

You can depart from the city of Aktau by car and use the GPS to get to your destination. Since the area does not have the comfort and amenities for a tourist vacation, it is recommended to use the services of professional guides from travel agencies. It takes about 80 km overall to reach the Blue Bay. You must head to the Fort Shevchenko **, and when you've already passed 68 km on the main road, turn to the left and drive another 10 km off-road until you see the Blue Bay*. Voila! Here you can spot a real-life paradise*.

What awaits you in the Blue Bay?

This place does not provide any guest houses, hotels,* **or any tourist infrastructure. There is only you and nature. What is this beach famous for? The Blue Bay is known for its colorful water. While you are observing the water, at first it may have the color of the sky, then it may seem green and even turn gray* sometimes. The water of the Blue Bay reflects the colors of the natural elements in its surroundings, such as the sun and sky. Its coast is also strewn with shells and sea stones.

What else to see?

To see all the beauty and surroundings of the Blue Bay, visit both its shores. If you take a walk by the beach, you will find a stony cliff rising from the water, which looks just like a finger.  The cliff is a local attraction, called the "Devil's finger," or "The Finger of God." This rock attracts with its mystery. If you go around it from different sides, it will seem as though it's a stone person, showing different facial expressions. For example, from one position, the face appears to be frowning and sad, but if you move another way, it looks as if it is radiantly smiling.
