1. Mykonos Windmills

Let's start with Mykonos' top landmarks. Windmills are the island's most photographed and famous attractions. Let yourself wonder in a real open-air museum and snapshots with a picturesque background you will cherish for a lifetime. The beautiful whitewashed windmills that crushed wheat and grains almost a century ago are a well-preserved reminder of Mykonos' past. They can be seen from every point of the downtown village, called in Greek "Chora".

2. Paraportiani Church

Consisting of a cluster of five smaller churches, Paraportiani Church in Mykonos is another must-see while visiting the Island of the Winds. Situated nearby the neighbourhood of Kastro, the intriguing Orthodox church can be reached easily on foot from Little Venice and boasts iconic Cycladic architecture. Its oldest chapel dates back to the 14th century, and it is classified as a national monument.

3. Delos island

Delos is a tiny, remote island just a short ferry ride away from Mykonos. It is designated as an archaeological site and a UNESCO world heritage site. It used to be a sacred island in ancient Greece, rumoured to be where the twin Gods, Apollo and Artemis, were born. Nowadays, it boasts a massive archaeological museum featuring findings excavated from the site.

4. Rhenia Island

Your tour around Mykonos would not be complete without a stopover at the virgin Rhenia Island. Despite being relatively close to the bustling Island of the Winds, it is not as popular as people would expect. However, it is definitely a Cycladic gem boasting 42 kilometres of coastline and plenty of opportunities to explore crystal-clear waters and sandy shores.

5. Little Venice

One of the most charming places on the planet is Little Venice in Mykonos. Filled with restaurants and quaint cafes, the seafront in the heart of Mykonos Town will make you feel that you have stepped into Venice, Italy. With colourful two-story Venetian-style buildings with wooden balconies, whitewashed windmills and paved alleys, Little Venice creates a romantic atmosphere, and it is probably Mykonos’ most picture-perfect location. Visit it during sunset, grab a drink and let your eyes wander while the sun kisses the transparent blue Aegean waters.
