When visiting Split, one of the most beautiful cities in Croatia, it would be a pity to miss its surroundings. As I always try to find out if there is something interesting outside the city I’m visiting, I would advise you to do the same. Only half an hour ride by a car or bus, you will find Trogir, a tiny Dalmatian town, with so much to see. It is actually that small that you can go from one side the city to the other in ten minutes of walking, but I promise, you will need more. Every step will be a new pace towards history and beauty. Catch your bus that leaves Split every half an hour, or rent a car. The journey can start.
Trogir has a very interesting geographic position. The city lies on a small island (the Old Town of Trogir), that is located between the main coast and Čiovo Island. The Old Town is connected both with the mainland and Čiovo via bridges. It has many old beautiful buildings, very well preserved. You can fell the spirit of old times. Walking through its narrow streets surrounded by stone walls will give you a sense of peace. During the night, the old fashion street lights will give you a touch of mystery. You will wish to come back here at least one more time.
If you like the crowd and don’t mind being surrounded by many people, you can feel all the great things Trogir can offer during the summer. It has beautiful Copakabana Okrug and Pantan beaches, where you can enjoy the sun and drink cocktails. If you prefer exploring the city alone when there are no many tourists around, book your time at the end of April.
Trogir offers a wonderful choice when it comes to food. So, feel free to sit in any restaurant as there are a lot of them, and you simply can not make a wrong decision there. Follow Blaženi Augustin Kažotić Street in the Old Town, and find your place. The only thing you can really be picky about is whether you would like to try domestic cuisine or something more international.
If you ask me what to see in Trogir, a tiny Dalmatian town, my answer would be - everything! Explore magical historical places of Trogir, such as the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, Ćipiko Palace, or The Fortress Kamerlengo, or just take a boat ride. You will enjoy just everything. In between, try magnificent Dalmatian cuisine.
