UFO Tower: The iconic symbol of Bratislava

Many European cities have their iconic towers - the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Berliner Fernsehturm or the Leaning Tower of Pisa, just to mention some of them. Bratislava has the UFO Tower, that quickly became the symbol of the city. The word UFO comes from the resemblance to a cosmic starship.  It is a multifunctional building where you can eat, drink, dance, enjoy the view, relax or get some adrenaline rush.

Observation Deck

The UFO Tower was opened in 1972, and it was one of the two buildings of this kind in the world. It is 95 meters high, and it is also listed in the World Federation of Great Towers. You can get to the observation deck within 45 seconds with a high-speed elevator. It is open daily from 10h-23h, so you can enjoy Bratislava at almost any time of the day. From the tower, you will see all the important sites of Bratislava from a birds-eye perspective. For children under 11, the entrance is free, and for all others, it costs 7 euros.

Restaurant

On top of the tower, there is a first-class restaurant, where you get a real gastronomical experience, followed by two excellent cocktail bars. The restaurant has a minimalistic interior design, as well as a minimalistic menu. You can choose a 7-course degustation menu or á la carte menu, where you can find a touch of Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. And if you visit a restaurant or a bar, you can get to the observation deck for free. 

Beach

Under the UFO Tower, by Danube River, there is a sand beach with probably the best view in whole Bratislava. Everything you need is here - a deck, playing music, delicious food stands, beach bar and, of course, a good atmosphere. And on Friday or Saturday nights, the calm beach turns into a great summer party location with the best Slovak DJs.

Skywalk

If you love adrenaline activities, you are in the right spot. You can climb on the top of the UFO Tower accompanied by a professional instructor, walk behind the windows of the restaurant and enjoy a 360-degree view. Besides the skywalk, you can also try the ropeway. You will go up to the UFO Observation Tower like an ordinary visitor, but on your way down, under the guidance of a professional instructor, you will go on** a nearly 100-metre long rope, right to the beach under the UFO**.

The UFO Tower is definitely a symbol of Bratislava, just like the Eiffel Tower is an iconic symbol of Paris. You can see it in every postcard, souvenir or photo. That is why you should not miss the UFO Tower while in Bratislava. You can choose to have a fancy dinner, amazing cocktails, sun-bath and chill at the beach, do a skywalk or just go to the observation deck. The choice is yours, but it is definitely a must.
