Briefly, Yambol is a city in southeastern Bulgaria in the Yambol Province, located on both banks of the Tundzha river. As it is around acceptable 300 km from Bulgarian capital, Sofia, it remains quite a reachable destination from all the other European capitals.

Moreover, the rich history of this place is testified by the fact that the earliest remains of settlements in the region were found in the numerous prehistoric village mounds. Did you know that this little Bulgarian gem has something common with Paris? Precious findings dating back to the ne**olith period and preserved in the Yambol Historical Museum, the Archeological museum in Sofia and the Louvre Museum in Paris. Therefore, instead of going to Louvre, check out the alternative Yambol Historical Museum! You will pay less, learn something new and definitely have enough time to check it whole!

Regarding the sightseeings, the thing you simply cannot miss in Yambol is the St.George church, , the most important cultural and religious centre and the national struggle for the citizens of Yambol. Also, the Yambol Bezisten, an indoor market and a souvenir place, is one of the most interesting and well preserved architectural monuments in Bulgaria. Another must see monuments are the City Historical Museum, Eski Mosque, an astronomic observatory and a planetarium, the town’s park (an isle on the Tundzha River), the archeological reserve Kabile, only 6 km away from the town. Finally, if you just want to chill and relax, go to Ormana forest and the low mountain district Bakadjitsite.

Additionally, it would be a shame to mention any Balkan city without acknowledging its amazing and decadent cuisine. The best of the Bulgarian cuisine offers and incredible wine, meat, potatoes with cheese and many delicious specialties. In fact, you will be pleasantly surprised to see that many small restaurants and pubs offer great entertainment and delicious cuisine for the visitors of Yambol.
