Mijas Costa is located in the region of Málaga (Andalucía, Spain), between the cities of Marbella and Málaga. You could guess that "costa" means "coast" in Spanish, and Mijas Costa is in fact a wide bay which covers the cities of Fuengirola, Mijas and Benalmádena. A coast of clear waters and soft sand that attracts numerous travellers every year.

However, Mijas has had the chance to remain much more discrete as a place, compared to Marbella or Málaga, for instance. It has all the benefits of a place that has grown prosperous thanks to tourism, while keeping most of its cultural identity.

Travellers come here from all around the world for all sorts of different motives. I would say that, mostly, people come here to enjoy life and have fun. One of the best ways to have fun in here, let me tell you, is to benefit from all the possibilities the sea has to offer! From windsurfing to renting boats and jet-skis, and having a blast at the Mijas Water Park, I will take you around the best ways to enjoy the liquid element here in Mijas.

What to say about the Fuengirola Nautical Club? I myself have worked there for several summers as a sailing instructor, and it's also the place where I learnt how to sail.

The Nautical Club is located in the port of Fuengirola, right in the centre of town. The port is full of bars, restaurants and shops where you could spend the morning or the evening and find all sorts of cool and unconventional gadgets. The Nautical Club, on the other hand, will give you the chance to learn how to sail with an intensive course of 2h/day for a whole week of theoretical and practical lessons with some of the best sailors in the region, for just 150 euros. But not only that, you can also rent windsurf or paddle surf boards there, both very healthy sports for the body and the soul! If you're travelling with kids, bare in mind the Nautical Club also offers a 150 euro camp for 8-16 year-olds, from 9h to 14h every day of the week. They will leave the camp with all the theoretical and practical knowledge to become amazing little pirates!

The Mijas Water Park

The Mijas Water Park is one of the best water parks around the place and you should definitely consider it if you're travelling with children and you want them to have a great time. The water park has several pools and 3 tall slides (only for the brave) that will have them running and laughing for hours. Also, consider that Aquamijas allows you to organize events in there! Such as birthday anniversaries, school trips and summer camps (all in its web page, just click on the picture to get more information about that). Oh and remember! you can also eat there since they have a restaurant serving burgers and hot dogs! Children pay 12 to 17 euros the ticket, whereas the tariff for adults is 22 euros.

Haha now for the big-boy rides and intense emotions! The picture of the place corresponds to the beach where you will find the little tent with the organization of the jet-ski rides. It's also a great beach because it allows you to do night time barbecues there! Which is an amazing plan if you're around. During the day time you will find the place to rent a jet-ski and sail full-speed through the Mijas Costa. A 30-minute ride is 50 euros and a maximum of two people can go on a bike, which means you could make it for 25 euros.

The question now is... will you dare?
