Parque das Nações is located on the eastern side of Lisbon, and though it is far from the center, it is one of the busiest and culturally richest parts of Lisbon. All those are, of course, related to the 1998 World Expo and its everlasting mark on this side of the Tejo river. This article is a collection of every great thing you can find in Parque das Nações.
There are some very interesting museums and exhibition halls you can visit in Parque das Nações. First of all is the marvelous Oceanarium, an overall calming experience for animal lovers (be sure to check the temporary exhibition).
Then you have the Pavilhão do Conhecimento, a wonderful museum based on science, that is great for children and adults.
Other places to see, are the imposing Pavilhão de Portugal (made by the renowned architect Álvaro Siza Viera) and the FIL (the Lisbon International Fair).
There are three major gardens in Parque das Nações were you can take a relaxing walk side by side with the river Tejo. You can find the Water Gardens, next to the Oceanarium, the long Garcia de Orta next to the river and the restaurants, and the larger Passeio dos Heróis do Mar, that goes all the way to the bridge.
Besides those places, there are many more things to see! For example, the Vasco da Gama shopping mall, which is connected to the modern Oriente train/bus station.
Or the Lisbon Casino, where free concerts are held from time to time.
And speaking of concerts, there is also Altice Arena, the largest concert hall in the city, that houses concerts, events, festivals, and many more.
And lastly there are the cable cars that can offer a panoramic view of the whole area!
