Sremski Karlovci original - bermet wine

It does not surprise that the area with such a strong wine culture and tradition, came up with a wine of its own. The local produce, and a national brand called Bermet is a strong, aromatic dessert wine. It’s heavenly sweet taste makes you want to drink tons of it, but beware, it’s got around 15-18% of alcohol!

Bermet is internationally acclaimed wine and historically was the main product for trade to other European countries, mostly royal families, courts and medieval jet-set. No wonder it found its way to the exclusive Titanic!

While in the area

Cultural capital of Serbia and soon of Europe, Novi Sad, is only 10 minutes away. National park Fruska Gora is even closer. And then there are grand baroque and neoclassical buildings, too fancy for such a small town. There is probably no smaller village with a bigger historic and religious importance for Serbia than Sremski Karlovci.

To get the most out of your time here, it may be a good idea to visit during the Spring Wine Festival, a festival that focuses on wine-making culture. Aside from numerous wine tasting opportunities, the wine festival will give you a good opportunity to get to know the place and the surroundings through various workshops, concerts, and even free organized tours.
