Workplace cafes in Madrid; Café de la Luz

While working as a freelancer and studying at the same time, I found myself looking everyday for different places where I could actually focus on my work. This last year, I am one of those people waking up, packing their laptop and looking for a cafeteria that allows them to have breakfast or brunch and work at the same time.

To get to the point, this is more or less how I discovered the fourth of the few workplace cafes that I am about to present; the cafe de la Luz, a beautiful cafe, situated right at the heart of Madrid and of course really close to the city's most famous commercial street, the Gran Via.

Cafe de la Luz - a brunch workspace cafeteria!

In a luminous corner between central streets, Cafe de la Luz is a good place to snack at any time of the day, have breakfast along with a delicious fresh coffee or tea and enjoy a drink (or a good mojito) during the evening!

With its relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and casual vintage style charm, this café is loved by the locals of Malasaña, who come in for brunch, coffee breaks or drinks in late hours. It is also a popular place for students to catch up with projects, as free wifi is offered.

With an interesting variety of toasts and sandwiches, as well as with its multiple flavours’ smoothies, Cafe de la Luz is awaiting to steal your heart. As mentioned, with its vintage style decoration and the big sofas that look like they came from a grandma’s house, it instantly makes you feel like home!

Concerning food, my personal suggestions would be the tostas with tomato that will surely please your appetite (simple but good, remember, less is more!). If you fancy a dessert, you can try chocolate cake or its famous apple pie, whose recipe is still being kept totally secret.

Important factor; yes, they do have wifi and yes it is actually quite fast.
