Continuing the series of pages that I have just started by presenting you an ideal route during which you’ll have the chance to visit some of the most awesome places in Ha[lkidiki](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/your-3-day-itinerary-halkidiki-part-1-md4w), I’m back with this page (as promised) to give you more tips and to create your perfect itinerary for a second round of unique experiences in this beautiful area!
As mentioned in my previous article, the greeks coming from the North usually say that you won’t find a place like Halkidiki anywhere in Greece, (san tin Halkidiki den ehi) and indeed they’re right. The region has the perfect combination of that distinctive greek light, unspoiled landscapes, colours and fragrances! This is a place where all your senses will come to life, whether on the endless expanses of sand of the fashionable, cosmopolitan beaches, or in the intimacy of the many secluded bays and coves. Halkidiki has plenty of must visit places and beaches that will definitely take your breath away!
On this page I’m about to present an alternative route, which will definitely be appreciated by the people who love the more naturalistic landscapes, the remote beaches and of course camping!
One more time, our starting point is gonna be the beautiful city of Thessaloniki, also known as the Nymph of the North ; more information regarding the activities and the recommended sightseeing while in Thessaloniki can be found here.
Nikiti is a coastal town in Sithonia Halkidiki. Only 105 km away from Thessaloniki, Nikiti is a small town with many natural beauties and long coastline. In Nikiti there is everything for a demanding tourist; traditional taverns, fish taverns with of course fresh fish, restaurants, cafes and bars, beach bars, fast foods and supermarkets. While there, you will definitely enjoy the beauty of Sithonia in all its glory and the astonishing blue-green waters, while spending hours under the greek sun!
While leaving from Nikiti and moving towards the south, you’ll find two of my favourite beaches in Greece, Armenistis and Kavourotripes that should be definitely added in your 3-day itinerary!
Armenistis is actually a campsite that invites you to a world of alternative holidays: golden beaches, crystal-clear waters, fields and trees, all combined with modern conveniences, good food and the highest standards of service. For your accommodation you can choose a tent, a caravan, a rented caravan with air conditioning and landscaped site or even, for greater comfort, a mobile home. Ideal for backpackers or for people seeking to find alternative and affordable kind of holiday!
Kavourotripes; About 20km southern, there is a cluster of small beaches in a coastline which is over 5km. These beaches are also known as Kavourotripes. In fact, there is not any road sign, so while you are on the main road of Sithonia pay attention to the sign ‘Beach Bar Portokali’. Upon your arrival, wonderful green and blue waters and also sculptures carved on the rocks by several artists adorn these beaches will steal your heart. Those beaches are actually deserted and some of those are also ideal for people who love skinny dipping! (yes, remote, naturalistic landscapes). Remember to pay extreme attention to the bushes and the rocks because the passes are rough and sometimes dangerous.
Definitely a worth checking place during your roadtrip, is the famous village and beach of Platanitsi! Platanitsi beach has been described as one of the most popular and beautiful beaches around Sarti. Considered a ‘Blue Flag’ beach, Platanitsi is considered as one of the most popular beaches in the whole Halkidiki peninsula. The beach itself is around 550m long, sandy on the shore and in the water, while the depth is gradual from the beginning and it is suitable for swimmers. The sand is bright and the sea is turquoise. Sounds like a paradise right? Well, it is!
Kalamitsi; Kalamitsi’s wild environment is just the perfect place to blend with nature! For years tourists have come to Kalamitsi to liberate themselves from the traditional hotel and opt for an eco-vacation in the form of camping. The camping around the area enables you to enjoy the spectacular natural surroundings. Of course, that’s something that the happy and hippie campers have discovered, and at the north side of the beach you can now find a nudist beach that gives a whole new meaning to the expression “free camping”.
