Knokke is known to be the cool, stylish sibling of Belgium’s coastal towns. Knokke-Heist is known for its busy cultural events and beach bars. There’s 5 beaches for you to choose from at Knokke, making it a hotspot for coastal tourism. It’s the last stop on Belgium’s coastal tram and close to the Netherlands. Whether you’re planning a day at the beach in Belgium or are starting to explore Europe, Knokke is a good spot to start.

What you need to know about Knokke-Heist

The Beach

In Knokke-Heist for a beach getaway? No worries, we got you covered. Knokke might have 5 beaches, but Albertstrand is the most popular thanks to its restaurants, beach cabins, and pretty sea view. In the tourist season, you’ll have to walk a bit further out to find a nice spot to sunbathe and relax away from the crowds. Knokke has its best weather from May to August. Knokke beach and the town is still a nice place to be when it’s not warm, but you won’t be dipping your toes into the sea then.

Nature surprises

One of Knokke’s most popular sights is the nature reserve of Het Zwin. Knokke is a coastal town with beautiful surprises of nature. Bring your bike or get those walking shoes on for a stroll around Zwin. Enjoy the fresh air of Belgium’s coast right on the Belgian-Netherlands border. There’s more to see than the sea at Knokke. Sandy dunes, rivers and so much more. If you want a beach holiday destination with more than just the beach to explore, Knokke is for you.

Fun in the water

What would a coastal getaway be without some fun in the ocean? Knokke’s beach has lots to offer for watersports no matter your age and experience. Rent a surfboard and catch some waves. Or book yourself and some friends in for a kite surfing class. There’s plenty of companies who offer classes and rentals along the coast, but Surfclub Windekind is pretty close to Knokke with a variety of options. Most companies offer kid-friendly options too. If you’d rather stay closer to town and try something new, try out cable skiing with Lakeside Paradise.
