The city center is not that big, if you follow the canal the Diepenring by foot, you will be mesmerized by all the historical sites in Groningen! If you want to travel around Groningen by bike, it is also possible and it will take approximately 30 minutes! You can arrive this lovely city from its airport; Groningen Airport Eelde or by train/by bus. If you have time, don't miss this old but gorgeous city. So here is your guide to Groningen!

Martinitoren, the first stop, is the highest church in Groningen with its 127-meter tall tower. This history-rich church was first built in the 13th Century but unfortunately, it got destroyed by a lightning. In the 15th Century, the second tower was built and today, you can take the 260 steps :) to take a look at Groningen from the top!

Groninger Museum, first of all, a spectacular building, hosts mainly contemporary art from all around the world. If you are really into art, you shouldn't miss this amazing museum.

If you want more Renaissance style things, you have to check The Prinsentuin -Prince's garden- or Prinsenhoftuin. This lovely garden consists of a rose garden, a herb garden, berceaus, and famous sundials! 

If you are looking for a museum for basically everything(!), you should visit The Universiteitsmuseum. This cute but amazing museum consists of temporary exhibitions, scientific instruments, Victorian style collections, anatomical samples and taxidermied animals and many more! It is definitely for every taste!

National Park Lauwersmeer is another perfect place to visit with a large group of people or if you have a company with a different taste! Because it has (brace yourselves) beaches, lakes, forest, pastures and many more! You can walk through magnificent orchid fields or woods, cycle, do bird-watching, take a boat trip, canoe, sail, motorboat and many more! 

After a long day of wandering around, you can chill at Noorderplantsoen. This public park is the best place to relax and enjoy English gardens, ponds, and walking paths.

And the last but not least, you have to visit Boertang, which is a small village shaped like a star (I KNOW) located very close to the German border. With its fascinating history and shape, this village is an open-air museum!
