Are you ready for something wild, natural, and authentic Norwegian? Trollstigen can’t be missed for a complete Norwegian experience and is the place to go for a path in Norway famous for its amazing views of Norwegian mountains and extreme sport opportunities. Get caught up in the wonders of the road shape, height, and majestic nature that you can see with your own eyes while biking, driving, or skating! Of course, walking is always an option. Gulzat wrote about a similar road in Kyrgyzstan

Trollstigen is a type of Mecca - Norwegians are expected to have a hiking trip here once in their lifetime. Not for religious reasons (although going here was quite religious for me), but for experiencing how great nature is in Norway - like nowhere else and thrilling in an adventurous way. Especially at the Trollstigen viewpoint which we'll get to.

Trollstigen road

You will meet people going on longboards down the road in 68 km/h, bikers, paragliders, squirrel suit people, and all kinds of sports that encourage speed and adrenaline!

The road was built in different ways, sometimes supported by artificial blocks, over the waterfall, right next to the mountain, or into the mountain. The result is magnificent and it's hard to fail to make a good attraction when nature is at this level of spectacular beauty. My friends who haven't seen Trollstigen and only read about it think it's not very special. Then I show them my videos from there and they change their mind and pack their backpack (it's happened twice).

Trollstigen is described as dramatic like Norwegian nature is often talked about. The story is also quite dramatic. First, it was a path, then a horse riding path, and in the early 1900s they built a road for cars that King Haakon VII opened. You can still see parts of the original path when you go! The restaurant next to Trollstigen was taken down by snowfall in the 1950s and now they have a big parking area, proper infrastructure and have secured the space in case you got worried about the heights.

The visitor's centre is a building at the top after the road showcasing the exciting trend of contemporary architecture. You will find a lodge, restaurant, art gallery, bridges, and a little road to the outdoor pavilion with views of the water and surrounding nature.

Trollstigen viewpoint

The plateau is placed at the most preferable spot to view the road combined with the landscape. The platform is shaped according to the rocks underneath and acts like water which is known for shaping according to the land.

Instead of the fence blocking the view, the architects chose to put glass. This way the small kids can see by themselves and aren't dangerously picked up by their parents like Simba in the Lion King.

Talking about living on the edge, some guys were at the viewing platform and did parkour with the risk of falling 200 meters down to the Trollstigen road! Quite an extreme place to get extreme sports clips.
