In my opinion, Japanese people have a sweet tooth in general. Not only the traditional Japanese sweets but Japanese style western sweets are very popular. Harajyuku style crêpes are well-known overseas as well as among the sweet tooth travelers in Japan. At Fullmoon Crêpe Mikkusu, you can experience the next level super tasty eye-candy crêpes with ultimate ingredients in an incredibly artistic presentation. Fullmoon Crêpe Mikkusu is located in the area of Shizuoka - which is not that convenient as there is no train station - 2 hours away from Tokyo. However, some people come from all over Japan to Mikkusu for its special crêpes. So why is the Fullmoon Crêpe Mikkusu so popular, attracting people from all over Japan for its ultimate gourmet crêpes? What is so special about its crêpes? Here are the reasons…
Highly recommended, the Fullmoon Crêpe Mikkusu’s crêpes look gorgeous with a touch of season magic. However, their simple ones are also super tasty. The chef Kenta traveled and learned extensively about crêpes in France and brought back the essence of the origin of crêpe, mixed with his passion and originality. Their artistic presentations of crêpes are simply amazing. If you are not a sweet tooth, you can choose their savory crêpes with sausages, prosciutto, or handmade meat source. If you are vegetarian, request the vegetarian savory crêpes. They will surprise you with their presentation and fresh ingredients available on the day.
The current owner’s father initially started the shop in 1995. The restaurant offered dishes with fresh local ingredients, including local wild eatable grass. The current owners have taken over the restaurants in 2014 with a spirit of using local and fresh ingredients. Their passion for providing safe and tasty food is showing their thorough selection in ingredients they use — no preservatives and additives, everything is as organic as possible. The flowers and herbs used for decoration are grown on the premises without pesticides.
The main fruit crêpes use seasonal fruit, like strawberry, mango, passionfruit, peach, pear, and grapes. The area, where Fullmoon Crêpe Mikkusu is located, is the production area for strawberry, so they use freshly picked strawberries for their crêpes, especially in spring! Passion fruits are also directly purchased from the local farmer.
Makinohara city is where the Fullmoon Crêpe Mikkusu can be found. Shizuoka is famous for Mt. Fuji; however, this area doesn’t get snow. The shop is located along the ocean in the region with the longest sunshine hours. Behind the shop is the beach where you can enjoy the view of Mt. Fuji in the distance, as well as the private surf spot, called "Behind Mikkusu beach." It is a public beach, however, it is very close to the famous surf beach so you can possibly camp there privately if you have camping equipment. Relaxing on the almost private beach and waking up with Fullmoon Crêpe Mikkusu’s amazing breakfast would be a dreamy combination! Don’t forget their wicked coffee, carefully selected to match their amazingly yummy crêpes.
Fullmoon Crêpe Mikkuus is not located conveniently; however, it is definitely worth the effort for their famous ultimate eye-candy tasty crêpes. If you are traveling in Japan by car, especially between Tokyo and Osaka, stop at the Fullmoon Crêpe Mikkusu; it is one of the must-drop-in hidden gems. Their super tasty crêpes are unforgettable, and you can capture the memory in highly 'instagramable' photos!
