Hardangervidda is a mountain plateau which covers 3 counties called Buskerud, Telemark, and Hordaland. The cool part is that Norwegians especially goes here to be tourists. For the hiker, I have stories about Preikestolen, Trolltunga, Jotunheimen, and Innerdalstårnet as well.

They ride the Krossobanen

Krossobanen is the pioneer of the cableways in the north of Europe. At the top of the cableway, you'll be in the heart of Hardangervidda. The interesting thing is that in the winter you can take with you your skis and snowboards while in the summer you bring your bike!

They hike

The popular Norwegian activity is really prevalent here. Multiple options are available and you can walk as far as you like since they have hundreds of paths. Go short, long, or strong depending on if you are carrying your family, friends, baby or only yourself. The walks start from the Hardangervidda National Park Route and are very straightforward to spot.

Solstien (The Sun Trail)

Get ready for the basic level adventure with the Sun trail. The track is for those who don't need a challenge while still want to see the depth of the Hardangervidda.

Activities to do on the track:

Solsekken (The sun kit)

A kit of small bags with exciting activities inside. The kit is aimed at the kids, although that is not meant as a limitation. In the bag, you'll find numbers that you also find on circled tree plates along the trail! You'll find the Sunbag at the stalls on Krossobanen.

Find a lot of different plants on the way and compete with your family members! (It won't end up as tragical as the monopoly game. This is a natural competition, and not about the money). Something less natural lets you use your smartphone on this beautiful natural landscape! Find the hidden treasure that is hidden along the track and get a big surprise when you find it!

Rjukan is the town close to the beautiful national parks. You can do general shopping here and get food and maybe do some clothes shopping.

Fun facts:

Hardangervidda is North-Europe's greatest *mountain plateau at* 8 000 km². The tourists here are mostly Norwegians. You'll also find people from Germany, France, Belgium, and Spain that use their vacation time for trips like these in Norway!
