Along with Bairro Alto and Santos, Cais do Sodré is the neighbourhood of choice when it comes to the nightlife of Lisboa. After a day of work or sightseeing, the streets of the area get crowded with people loooking to spend the evening in a nice spot. I listed a few of the best bars you will find in the area, but feel free to wander about and find your favourite! There are plenty of options for different tastes, even if sometimes it is hard to know where to look!
If concerts are your thing you are sure to find something great. There are many places where you can spend the night watching a good show, be it Rock, Indie, House, African, all styles are present. These are centered around the famous Rua Cor de Rosa, but like always, there are some hidden gems a little bit everywhere too.
For more refined evenings, or simply to avoid the usual choices, Cais do Sodré has also a variety of clubs and bars with distinct personality, atmosphere and recognition! You can enjoy your cocktail with a bit of art, dance in the trendiest places or relax in a seductive cabaret-like bar! These are fantastic spots to go to for breaking the routine of the usual nightclubs.
A big part of the charm of Cais do Sodré is its closeness to the river. Some houses have been here since the XXth century, keeping the memory of world-travelling sailors of old. The sense of meeting of locals and foreigners alike, of gathering, can still be appreciated in some of th spots in this part of town. And of course, this is where you will find the bars with the nicest views of the Tejo!
With so many great places to choose from, maybe it is best to prepare for more than one nighttime trip to Cais do Sodré. Don't forget there are plenty of more fantastic bars to know about in the area. And when you feel you have had your share, you can take a break by the river and contemplate the city by night. Have a great time!
