With its modern architecture, tulips, old harbor, cute old houses and young energy, Rotterdam is definitely a unique city. It is the second biggest city in the Netherlands and has the largest port in Europe. The city was bombed during the World War II and after the war, they decided to rebuild the city not as its old days but a very modern and innovative way. Due to that, now Rotterdam offers new architectural designs and lovely sightseeing.

The best way to discover the city is with a bike. Rotterdam is not a very big city but it offers lots of beautiful places to visit. It also offers not just architecture but art, awesome food, and cultural offers. Here is the list of things that you should definitely visit and do in Rotterdam!

Sail under the Erasmus Bridge with a boat tour!

The Erasmus Bridge is one of the most famous icons of Rotterdam. This 800-meter long bridge connects the north and south part of the city, along the Maas river. If you want to discover the city on water, you should definitely take a boat tour and get fascinated by the unique architecture of Rotterdam for 75 minutes! Or you can take a splash tour which is a normal bus splashing from the streets to beautiful Maas river! This unique tour takes 60 minutes and costs about 24,50 Euro.

Get hypnotized by the Cubic Houses!

These yellow-grey houses are another icon of the Rotterdam. This unique architectural masterpiece was built in the late 1970s by an Amsterdam architect called Piet Blom. In this whole concept, every house represent a tree so the houses make a forest altogether. The Cubic Houses are in the city center (in near Blaak tram station) and it has a hostel inside. So you can definitely stay there and have another great experience once in a lifetime!

Have a full and happy stomach in the Market Hall!

Rotterdam offers lots of different food options for every taste. The Market Hall is also located in the city center ( in Blaak, almost in front of the Cube Houses) and it is a market with various restaurants, shops and residential apartments above them. You will be amazed by the interior while you are doing your shopping or enjoying your delicious food by the delicate view. The Market Hall was opened in October 2014 and now it is a top tourist attraction point. In front of the Market Hall, there is also an open market every Tuesday and Saturday, that you can buy fish, famous Dutch cheese, clothes, fresh fruits&vegetables and many more. Oh also for a nice apple pie go check the famous cafe Dudok!

Have a fun day with your Kids in the Rotterdam Zoo!

The Rotterdam Zoo also called Diergaarde Blijdorp is located in the north side of Rotterdam. It is definitely Europe's most beautiful zoo with 160 years of history. You will need the whole day for discovering this lovely Zoo, so don't forget to have a spare time!

Observe the city from the Top: Euromast

This 185-meter tall building is a must-see-place! It is the tallest building in Rotterdam and it offers 360-degree view of the entire city of beautiful Rotterdam. At the top, there is also a restaurant that you can enjoy your food with the amazing view.

Party with the locals at Witte de Withstraat

If you enjoy the nightlife, Witte de Withstraat will be your favorite street. The street is popular around the young people for a fun night out or just to hang out with your friends in trendy bars or restaurants with a huge crowd! It is a perfect spot for urban food and nice drinks. Don't forget to eat delicious drunk food "Kapsalon" in here, and you can thank me later ;)

Chill at Kinderdijk or Kralingse Bos

If you want to see iconic Dutch windmills which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List with the beautiful nature, you should visit the Kinderdijk! The famous windmills have been working since the 18th Century and you can discover the whole area by foot or with a bike! Another good part is: There is no entry fee!
