Small country - immense beauty!

Have you ever heard the legend which says that God while creating a Land, had his sack full of natural beauties ripped open spreading more beauty across one place than he had ever planned to? Just a legend you would say, but in case of Montenegro, I can assure you that this is not far from the truth.

Situated on the Mediterranean coast, Montenegro is the second smallest country in the Balkans. With a population of six hundred fifty thousand, Montenegro is just like an average European city and in terms of area it is 20 times smaller than Italy. Although so small Montenegro has a lot to offer, especially to adventurers.

Most of its territory cover mountains ridged with canyons with a large number of crystal clear rivers and lakes. That’s why Montenegro is a paradise for nature lovers. It’s a perfect place for rafting, kayaking, canoeing, biking and hiking as well as skiing. The highest mountain peaks reach over 2500 meters above sea level. It is located on two magnificent mountain massifs: Durmitor and Prokletije. Both massifs were declared national parks for their beauty and Durmitor along with the Tara River canyon is the UNESCO site.

Among the national parks there is Biogradska Gora - one of the three largest virgin forests in Europe, with a beautiful Lake Biograd located in its heart. In the southern part of Montenegro there are National Park Skadar Lake and National Park Lovcen. Skadar Lake is the largest lake in the Balkans, home to a large number of birds, even some globally endangered species, and it is decorated with specific beauty.

Lovcen is a mountain that rises above the magnificent Boka Bay and besides exceptionally rich and diverse vegetation, it has a huge historical and cultural significance.

In the southern part of the country one can enjoy wonderful Adriatic coastline full of beautiful beaches, peninsulas and bays. On the coast you can find small traditional Mediterranean villages as well as large modern towns.

This tiny but naturally rich country gets more and more attention every year. It is a place of numerous festivals and fairs and it can be explored in just a few days. Being there only for a day or for a whole week, you’ll definitely fall in love with any part of Montenegro you visit.
