If you are planning on visiting Lisboa and you're looking for some activity, one of the things you have to do is to** check out the bands in town!** There are always concerts going on in a variety of places, but for this list I will skip the big concert halls and theaters that you can easily find; Instead here we will focus on** the smaller venues** like nightclubs, cultural centers and clubs that are spread out across the city. There are options for everyone's tastes, and remember these are just a few of the great spots you can find on your trip. Have a great show!
Hot Clube is oldest jazz club in Europe still running, and to this day it maintains a programme of regular** concerts and jam sessions** throughout the month. In Praça da Alegria, it is the place where the club members and other musicians get together to enjoy the 'hot music', while having a drink from the available bar. Get your ticket too and go hang with the jazz cats!
A very peculiar kind of bar and venue, Alface Hall is located in Bairro Alto, below the Alface Hostel. The chilled-out charm of this spot comes from the decoration, made of antiques and curious objects, its improvised stage and the music that is played, from a variety of genres that always suit its lively ambiance. At 21 hours, grab a drink and enjoy the show!
This is Galeria Zé dos Bois, or, as it is more commonly called, ZDB. It is an independant cultural association in Bairro Alto, that works in different ways to cultivate the creation, production and promotion of contemporary art. They regularly host various kinds of events and activities, exhibitions, artist residencies, music shows and other live performances. Pay them a visit!
Sabotage Club is the best nightclub to go to for a night of Rock and Roll! From thursday to saturday, there are live concerts that will give you the different stems of the Rock genre - indie, stoner, garage, psychedelic, etc - and there is also a resident DJ to end the nights. A great alternative to regular clubs, located in the busy streets of Cais do Sodré.
In Cais da Ribeira, by the Tejo, you can find this fantastic spot where dance, african and lusophone culture all get together. Local and international groups come often for live concerts, otherwise the resident group will make sure you always keep moving! A fantastic little spot with a great spirit and atmopshere, B.Leza is an obligatory stop for the african beat lovers!
A popular live music bar in Cais do Sodré, Musicbox provides a programme of national and international acts from many genres of music - pop, rock, house, indie, techno and others. With a bar inside aswell, the place is not very big, but its almost religious stage and room architecture offer an inviting and intimate atmosphere to enjoy the bands and DJs thoughout the night.
Metal and Heavy Rock fans are also served with a live music bar.** RCA** stands for Real Companhia dos Animais (meaning Royal Company of Animals), and it evolved from a simple band to this club and bar in Alvalade, in the outskirts of Lisboa. Live shows happen very often, with bands from around the world. It has excellent acoustic conditions and is the perfect spot for for a night of headbanging!
Take the chance of your visit to Lisboa to appreciate the traditional song and music of the urban portuguese culture: Fado! Among the many options around, Tasca do Chico, in Bairro Alto, stands out as one of the more **laid-back and warming **places, where you can enjoy a good meal and a show that fills the intimate room. Also, amateur and professional musicians often play together here, which is something you don't see every day!
A **trendy and peculiar **spot of the Lisboa nightlife, Rive Rouge opens in the afternoon, so it is possible to enjoy the place day and night. A variety of national DJs fill the programme, and there are also a few international acts, and ocasionally other events. The bar is always busy serving its beers, cocktails and other drinks, as the crowd dances to the music under the metallic vertical structure. And everywhere you look, the red colour!
