Bars of Brunswick

Brunswick has good bars with a quaint atmosphere to offer. You will find places to everyone’s liking. Check them out during your stay in the city of lions. It is especially for those who enjoy having a drink, combined with a little chat with friends in authentic establishments. Then you have found your place in Brunswick!

Brunswick's private brewery

For instance, there is 'Schadt`s Brauereigasthaus'. The bartenders are rough in a friendly way, and the interior is typical rustic German. If you enter the pub, the first thing you'll see is the big round bar surrounded by wooden tables and banks. Also you will notice the smell of traditional German food. Brunswick’s Beer-Roast is one of their special dishes and it goes well with one of their self-made beers. They brew three different kinds of beer: Schadt´s Pilsener (Lager), Wheat, Maerzen and Bockbeer. From 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and from 9 p.m. until 10 p.m. there is a Happy Hour, which means that you get beer and German food ('Deutsche Hausmannskost') for very decent prices.

Local and Irish beer, foosball and potato dishes

As I said, Brunswick serves everybody’s preferences. Mutter Habenicht close to Schadt's Brauereigasthaus also serves  local food and beer in a similar atmosphere. The small building looks cute, sandwiched between two tall houses.

For lovers of Irish beer, Braunschweig has Wild Geese to offer. They do quiz nights on Tuesdays and karaoke on Thursdays.

In addition there is Luke 6, where you can play a game of foosball and drink a Wolters, which is a beer, brewed in Brunswick. They also serve cocktails.

'Tolle Knolle’' is a restaurant next door. They have all kinds of dishes containing potatoes. Definitely worth trying out.

More bars in the Magniquarter...

If you are already in this area, you should check out the Magniquarter. It is a lovely old part of Brunswick. Oelschlaegern street especially has a lot of bars like Barnaby’s Blues Bar, Altstadttreff Ahmeti or the Magnitorwächter to offer.

Have a break, see an obelisk, continue your pub crawl...

For a short break check out the obelisk on the Lion Wall close to the Oker river. After a stroll around the statue, continue your day/night. The most frequent party street, called Bruchtorwall, is situated at the opposite end to Luke 6. In the parallel street is the Haifischbar of Brunswick. It is a tiny but cosy bar, which actually has an inaccessible tunnel/route to the Brain Klub. And as you play foosball, you can hear the hypnotic bass from the underground club.

All in all Brunswick is not famous for its bars, but if you have a closer look, you will discover pubs with good German beer and food, mostly in a fun and quaint atmosphere.
