With about 82 million inhabitants, Germany is the most populous member state of the European Union. Germany's capital and largest metropolis is Berlin, while its largest conurbation is the Ruhr, with its main centres of Dortmund and Essen. The country's other major cities are Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Leipzig, Bremen, Dresden, Hannover, and Nuremberg. Elevation ranges from the mountains of the Alps in the south to the shores of the North Sea in the northwest and the Baltic Sea  in the northeast. The forested uplands of central Germany and the lowlands of northern Germany are traversed by such major rivers as the Rhine, Danube and Elbe. Germany's alpine glaciers are experiencing deglaciation. When thinking of Germany, beer, lederhosen and Alpine hats quickly come to mind, but these stereotypes mostly relate to Bavarian culture and do not represent Germany as a whole. Germany is a vast and diverse country with 16 culturally unique states that have been politically united since 1871. Even within states there is often considerable cultural diversity.

You can have fun at the seaside or on a mountainside, stay in a luxury hotel or on a farm, enjoy big-scale events in Hannover, the state capital, or sample cultural traditions in smaller towns and villages across the state. You will have limitless sport opportunities: hiking, clambering, walking, sailing, cycling, horse-riding, canoeing, kayaking or skiing. In its capital, Hannover, Herrenhausen Gardens include the baroque Great Garden and English landscape gardens. The Lower Saxony State Museum displays art from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. The city of Braunschweig is home to the rebuilt medieval Dankwarderode Castle and the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum, with its vast collection of European art.

As the third largest city in Spain, Valencia is a vibrant and colourful metropolis located on the  country's sunny east coast. With its vibrant beaches, delicious paella (where the famous dish originated from), and stunning architecture, Valencia is the perfect place to explore and have some fun!

Spain is famous for its friendly inhabitants, relaxed lifestyle, its cuisine, vibrant nightlife, and world-famous folklore and festivities, and its history as the core of the vast Spanish Empire. The most popular beaches are the ones along the Mediterranean coast and on the Canary Islands. Meanwhile, for hiking, the mountains of Sierra Nevada in the south, the Central Cordillera and the northern Pyrenees are the best places. Historically, Spain has been an important crossroads: between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, between North Africa and Europe, and as Europe began colonizing the New World, between Europe and the Americas. As such, the country is blessed with a fantastic collection of historical landmarks. The Spanish are very passionate about their cuisine, based on great food and wine. Spanish food can be described as quite light with a lot of vegetables and a huge variety of meat and fish.

France is a country of rich emotions and turbulent politics but also a place of rational thinking and Enlightenment treasures. Above all, it is renowned for its cuisine, culture and history. Whatever you want from a holiday, you're about to find it in France.

I'm Chris, an industrial engineering student who loves to travel and take photos.I grew up in a small village called Winsen Aller in Lower Saxony. It is in the northern part of Germany, close to Celle and Hannover. Currently I am living in Valencia, Spain. Before, I lived and studied in Braunschweig, Germany. I have also travelled all around Europe and further afield. After my Bachelor of Science in Braunschweig, I did a gap year in Australia. There I discovered my enthusiasm for outdoor activities like hiking and biking. One of my passions is exploring nature, cities, culture and getting to know the people who live there. My favorite way of travelling is by van, and for me there is nothing more thrilling than sleeping under the stars. Furthermore, I love campfires and fishing. One important part of culture for me is food, because I really enjoy trying local dishes and experiencing new tastes.
